Man Attacks Woman With Swim Noodle In Watermelon Dispute
NAPLES, Florida ~ (Naples Daily News) ~ Local police arrested a man on May 19th after he allegedly harassed a woman with a swim noodle and then hit her in the face.
68-year-old East Naples resident Karl Ludwig Eichner is accused of assaulting the woman after she threw his watermelon into the ocean, the Naples Daily News reports. According to a Collier County Sheriff's Office report, a woman and her friend were sitting on the beach when they noticed a rotting watermelon, carved in the shape of a human head, was resting on the sand and attracting flies. Thinking the fruit had been abandoned, she picked it up and tossed it into the surf, hoping it would naturally degrade.
Eichner, however, retrieved the carved melon and returned it to its place on the beach, only to again have the unidentified woman dispose of it on the ocean. According to investigators, this angered Eichner so he approached the woman with a swim noodle full of water and dumped it on her as she sat on her towel. Eichner then allegedly punched the woman in the cheek. She did not suffer any serious injuries, and Eichner has been charged with battery and was being held on a $1,000 bond.
