Shooting Up The Strip: Is This Potentially Dangerous?
Over the years, we’ve seen plenty of things shooting in Las Vegas. Movies, TV shows, commercials, web videos, TMZ, and even a classy hooker here and there… but soon enough, we might see everybody allowed to shoot on the strip; With a gun, that is!
Vegas Fox News affiliate FOX5 reported that, “On Tuesday night, the Clark County Planning Commission voted to allow Beretta to open a shop and shooting range inside The Shoppes at the Palazzo.” Sure… just what Sin City needs. Lenient gun laws in a city where street drinking is legal. I suppose this will be a nice new “survival of the fittest” research study group. According to the report, “The vote came despite heavy opposition from neighboring hotel/casinos.” Opposition? You mean not everybody was in board with this radical idea? Nah… Get out!
This next objection was a ridiculously obvious, yet hysterical observation brought to the table. “Representatives from Wynn and the Venetian spoke out against the high-end boutique, pointing out the risk of operating a gun store in a casino.” Yeah, no sh*t! ‘The House Always Wins’ is a saying the casinos don’t soon feel like changing. Put some bullets in the rollers hands and they might get the urge to even out the score after a few complimentary Gin Gimlets (feel free to insert your own personal favorite funny sounding old man drink here).
FLASH-FORWARD……and the verdict please.
“The Planning Commission voted 4-1 to give Beretta a permit. Beretta will sell expensive firearms, some in the tens of thousands.” But sleep easy as the store reportedly won’t be selling ammunition. Phew! It’s not like the criminals could buy ammo elsewhere. Or could they? Hmm…
Lastly, the report concluded that, “the store and firing range will likely be up and running within the next few months. The space that will house the store is owned and managed by a Chicago-based company rather than the Palazzo.” And if they’d like to play it safe, may I recommend running the store from Chicago!
