Rapper Tone Loc Arrested For Domestic Violence
BURBANK, Calif. –“Funky Cold Domestic“--Rapper Ton Loc was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony domestic violence after an altercation with the mother of his child.
The 45-year-old rapper, whose real name is Anthony Smith, was arrested Saturday around 2:45 p.m. at an apartment complex in Burbank.
Burbank police Sgt. Tracy Sanchez confirmed Saturday’s arrest with the Associated Press but could not provide any further details about the pending case.
According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, Loc got into an altercation with the mother of his child at her home.
Sanchez said the suspect complied with officer’s commands at the scene and was taken into custody without incident.
Loc is currently being held in a Burbank jail in lieu of a $50,000 bail, which has not been paid as of this report.
A message left for Loc’s agent Sunday was not immediately returned, and police could not say if he had hired an attorney.
The gravelly voice Tone Loc is best known for the 1989 hip-hop hits “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.”
Following a successful music career in the 80’s, Loc went on to land a small part in the 1995 big budget action film “Heat,” starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Val Kilmer.
Since that time, the rapper has focused more on his acting career than his music, appearing in several movies, sitcoms and reality shows. However, it is the rapper’s unique voice that has kept him busy in several animated movies and television series such as, Bebe’s Kids, Fern Gully, Titan A.E. and King of the Hill.
