Man Robs Dunkin Donuts Store On Bicycle
MERIDEN, Connecticut ~ (Hartford Courant) ~ A man was arrested and faces numerous charges after allegedly robbing a Dunkin' Donuts restaurant while on a bicycle.
42-year-old Vernon Lewis, of Lincoln Terrace, was arrested on April 22nd after he allegedly rode his bicycle up to the drive-thru window, threatened the clerk and then made off by pedaling away with a register drawer full of cash, according to a police report. Lewis then nearly collided with a police officer near Meriden City Hall; the officer was responding to another call.
The officer then learned that the nearby Dunkin Donuts had just been robbed, he found Lewis near the public library. Police claim he was carrying $321 in cash, and later the restaurant employees identified Lewis as the alleged robber. Lewis already had 45 previous arrests for robbery when he was nabbed on this caper; he now faces several charges, including first-degree robbery, second-degree larceny, second-degree threatening, interfering with police and brandishing a facsimile firearm.
