Man Keesters Comfort Items Into California Jail


LAKE COUNTY, California (The Smoking Gun) ~ A California man, who was sentenced and jailed on March 15th on a narcotics violation, allegedly smuggled numerous contraband items into county lockup by way of his rectum, according to local investigators.

The staggering list of items includes a Kyocera Metro cell phone, an MP3 player, ear bud headphones, tobacco, marijuana,and $140 in cash. The contraband was discovered when Lake County Corrections officers strip-searched 29-year-old tattoo artist Earl Lee Vogt and tossed his prison cell. The searched was prompted on the evening of the 16th when a guard smelled marijuana smoke coming from his cell.

"Vogt" had been sentenced to four years in jail and immediately remanded over from the courtroom to the sheriff's department. According to investigators, they believe he "keestered" the items to get them into lock-up; while the cash was found in his cell, the other items were stored in a sock. When asked by a sheriff's deputy if he was in any discomfort, Vogt denied being in pain but did admit, "my ass is bleeding".

'Vogt claims he obtained the marijuana from another inmate in trade for a second MP3 player he had smuggled into the northern California jailhouse, however jail officials doubt his assertion. He has now been additionally charged with a felony count of smuggling a controlled substance into prison and unauthorized possession of a wireless communication device, which is'a misdemeanor. It is unclear how Vogt planned to recharge the phone.
