Klan Snowman Appalls Idaho Neighbors
HAYDEN, Idaho ---- A white separatist from Idaho was feeling the wrath of neighbors and police after he constructed a 10-foot-tall snowman shaped like a member of the Ku Klux Klan on his front lawn.
Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies told Mark Eliseuson Wednesday that he could be charged with a crime because the Klan snowman was holding what appeared to be a noose.
Eliseuson may have been dreaming of a white Christmas; neighbors however were appalled by his hateful snowman with its pointy head and dark eyes, so they called the police.
Police could have charged him with creating a public nuisance which Idaho law defines as anything “offensive to the senses” or that interferes with the comfort of the entire neighborhood.
The town had earned a reputation in the past because of its close proximity to a former Aryan nation compound.
“I see nothing wrong with the snowman,” Eliseuson told KXLY-TV of Spokane, “The others have a problem with it.”
In the past Eliseuson has angered neighbors by handing out spent gun shell casings during Halloween and flying an Aryan Nation Flag at his home.
Tell us what you think; does Eliseuson have the right to build a Klan snowmen on his front lawn even though its message is that of hate and racial bigotry?
