KISS Rocker Gene Simmons Marries Actress Shannon Tweed
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. –“Sealed with a kiss”—Kiss front man Gene Simmons and his girlfriend of 28-years, actress and former Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed were married this weekend before 400 guests.
The outdoor ceremony Saturday evening at the Beverly Hill Hotel was taped for the couples A&E reality series, “Gene Simmons Family Jewels,” which is scheduled to air October 18.
In attendance were Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner, talk show host Bill Maher as well as fellow Kiss members, including guitarist Paul Stanley.
The 62-year-old Israeli-born Simmons proposed to Tweed, 54, with a 24-carat diamond during the final episode of their reality show in July.
Tweed walked down the aisle in an Ivory Pricilla of Boston gown wearing $2.5 million of diamonds –in addition to her engagement ring, according to TMZ.
The couple’s daughter, Sophie, 19, served as maid of honor and son Nick, 22, created the illustration for the wedding invitations.
During the ceremony, the couple exchanged vows that they wrote themselves while Sophie sang Etta James’ “At Last” for the couple’s first dance as husband and wife.
"It is time for me to grow up. I'm 62. I've been doing a lot of wacky stuff for an awfully long time…and there's nobody I've ever said 'I love you' to," Simmons reasoned to Entertainment Tonight before saying "I do." "I even find it difficult to say 'I love you' to my mother. But I love Shannon with all my heart and all my soul, and always will."
Simmons proposed to Tweed during a trip to Belize, in a tense moment that was captured by cameras for their reality series, which chronicles the pair’s unconventional relationship since 2006.
