Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce After 10 Weeks
LOS ANGELES, Calif.- Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her basketball player husband, Kris Humphries, 72 days after tying the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony that reportedly cost $3 million dollars, according to gossip site TMZ.
Kardashian, 31, and on her second marriage, is said to have filed for divorce from Humphries, 26, on Monday October 31, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.
Ryan Secreast, who produces Kadashian’s reality series, confirmed the divorce news on Twitter, writing, “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few min.”
In a statement released to the press, Kim writes, "After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision."
A source confirmed to Us Weekly that the newlyweds are “not getting along at all,” adding “Kris is not drinking the Kardashian Kool-Aid, and it causing major problems.”
One source says Kim is upset over Humphries lack of employment due to the NBA lockout and his constant need to party on her dime.
The two were wed on August 20, in Montecito, Calif. after just nine months of dating. “On some levels,” says a friend, “she feels like she made a mistake.” Part of that mistake was documented on the second season of “Kourtney & Kim Take New York,” which depicts the couple’s wedding woes. “How am I going to have my career and live in Minnesota?” Kim asks Kris when he suggested they move back to his home state.
Kris responds by saying, “Baby, by the time you have kids and they’re in school, nobody will probably care about you.”
The couple reportedly have a prenuptial agreement and celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser has been tapped to represent Kardashian. According to TMZ, the pair's $10 million wedding cost approximately $138,888 a day as of October 31.
