Keith Richards Attacks Reporter Markus Larsson During Interview
Did Markus Larsson have it coming to him?
Keith Richards, founding member and guitarist for the Rolling Stones, reportedly threatened then hit Swedish Journalist Markus Larsson in the head yesterday during an interview in Paris, while promoting his new book “Life” in a Parisian hotel.
According to Larsson, the ‘attack’ happened only 10 minutes into their 30 minute scheduled interview when Richards, 66, realized who Larsson was. "His eyes got black and he was absolutely furious. He stood up and asked if we would put out the lights and settle the disagreement straight away. At first I was just surprised, I thought he was pulling my leg, but then I realized he was serious and then I felt uncomfortable and I just wanted to get out of there pretty fast."
After hitting Larsson in the head, Richards, apparently hoping to throw another quick 1-2 combination, told Larsson, "You're lucky to get out of here alive."
The tiff between the two supposedly stems back to 2007, when Larsson called the Rolling Stones “amateurs” and gave their live concert appearance in Gothenburg, Sweden, a pathetic 2 out of 5 stars rating.
Richards had taken offense to the bad review and demanded that Larsson apologize, which of course he never did. Instead Larsson publically responded by saying, "I am not going to apologize for my subjective opinion ... It is Keith who should apologize. After all it costs around $145 to see a rock star who can hardly handle the (guitar) riff to 'Brown Sugar' anymore."
Oh he definitely had it comin’.
