Influential Parisian DJ Mehdi Dies In Tragic Accident


According to several reports the world-famous DJ Mehdi died after a tragic accident on Monday night, September 13th. Mehdi was on the roof his Paris home celebrating the birthday of musical partner Riton when the roof collapsed. Accounts are still conflicting but Mehdi's death has been confirmed by his publicist and his record company Ed Banger records.

Mehdi's death was at first thought to be a hoax but gained credibility as more musicians and friends tweeted about the DJ and producer's death. DJ Cut Killer tweeted, (translated from French) "DJ Mehdi!!! There are no words to tell you the sorrow which I feel...A friend goes from there..Rest in peace bro." Drake tweeted, "Damn...RIP MEHDI." Collaborators Chromeo expressed their sorrow, "We lost our brother. No words."

Mehdi Faveris-Essadi, known as DJ Mehdi, was known for his influence on French underground hip-hop and his collaborations with artists including Daft Punk, Cassius, Carol King, MC Solarr and Chromeo.
