Don’t Be a Square, Head to The Orleans for a “Rockabilly” Good Time
Like the 50’s and 60’s? Enjoy music, cars, and fashion? Then The 13th Annual Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend is the event for you. Viva Las Vegas celebrates all things rockabilly. Rockabilly is an early form of rock n roll, a mix between rock and country, which was earlier referred to as hillbilly, because of its place of origin.
Rockabilly faded away in the mid 60’s but was revisited in the 1980’s and made popular again by The Stray Cats and Brian Setzner. Rockabilly is no longer used to describe a certain style of music, but an entire sub-culture of music, fashion and attitude, inspired by an era.
Clothing and hairstyles play a major role in the rockabilly culture and some of today’s biggest stars have embraced the style including Tyler Connelly of Theory of a Deadman, Kat Von D, Gwen Stefani, Pink, and of course the boys of Weezer. Even fashionistas Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton have been spotted in pin-up inspired clothing.
The rockabilly party at The Orleans Hotel and Casino Las Vegas starts April 1st thru April 4th 2010. Events include concerts with Chuck Berry, Wanda Jackson, The Teenagers, Rudy Tutti Grayzell and many more. Other events include a car show, Miss Wolff’s Jiving Dance School, Burlesque competitions, vintage fashion shows and many more.
Tickets can be purchased at The Orleans Box Office for $89.00 a person for a four day pass. So, if you're in the mood for some good clean fun, then strap on your blue suede shoes and grab your best girl and I will see you at Rockabilly Weekend!
