Deadly Animals Set Loose From Preserve
Zanesville, Ohio Ė This bizarre story lies somewhere between tragic and comical. Terry Thompson, owner of a local animal preserve about 50 miles east of Columbus, set 56 wild animals loose before committing suicide late last night.
Among the animals initially set loose were lions, black bears, grizzly bears, cheetahs, giraffes and 18 Bengal tigers! Naturally, this caused every news outlet to simultaneously realize they could now quote The Wizard of Oz at will. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz reported that his team of local police officers spent last night and today hunting or capturing the deadly animals. Schools were cancelled and residents were warned to stay indoors as the hunt continued into the day while a grizzly bear and lion were still at large; though fortunately, there were no reports of attacks or injuries.
As of this afternoon, six have been taken to the zoo and 48 were killed. Thatís right, math minds: A monkey and a wolf are still on the loose!
