Conservative Moms Are Against Schweddy Balls Ice Cream
(KIAH 39.online) ~ It seems that some conservative mothers are unhappy about Ben & Jerry's latest flavor of ice cream, "Schweddy Balls", possibly because it reminds them of testicles.
One Million Moms, an affiliate of the American Family Association, have branded the brand's new label as "vulgar". The moms think it's in such bad taste that they have called for a boycott of the ice cream company. A statement from the group said, "the vulgar new flavor has turned something as innocent as ice cream into something repulsive. Not exactly what you want a child asking for at the supermarket." The group went on the claim the mane is sexually suggestive and shows a lack of respect for the customers. Their spokesman added, "it seems that offending customers has become an annual tradition for Ben & Jerry's." OMM were also strongly against the company's special edition of "Chubby Hubby" which was called "Hubby Hubby" and released last year to celebrate homosexual marriage.
Sean Greenwood, spokesman for Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, said the company was simply having a bit of amusement with the new name, claiming, "the new name is irreverent. But we've always been about having some irreverence and having some fun. We're not trying to offend people, out fans get the humor." The concoction is made up of vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum, and has fudge-covered rum balls and malted milk balls, and the name "Schweddy Balls" refers to a 'Saturday Night Live' skit featuring Alec Baldwin as baker Pete Schweddy. Baldwin released a statement about the new flavor, saying, "for a long time, I thought 'Here Lies Pete Schweddy' would end up on my tombstone. Now, thanks to Ben & Jerry's, the goodness of the Schweddy family recipe won't go with me to the great beyond."
