Ashlee Simpson files for Divorce from Pete Wentz
LOS ANGELES – Singer Ashlee Simpson & musician Pete Wentz filed for divorce after less than three years of marriage according to sources close to the couple.
In a statement issued to the press, Simpson, 26, & Wentz, 31, "After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce."
Wentz released a statement saying, “We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. “
The couple began dating in 2006 and wed in 2008. The couple has one two-year-old son named Bronx. Sources close to Simpson said she will seek full custody of Bronx.
Wentz, the former bassist for the rock group, 'Fall Out Boy' was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of eighteen. In 2005 he attempted suicide just prior to meeting Simpson. The musician has stated many times that his marriage and family is what kept him calm.
Sources close to the couple told TMZ the reason Simpson is seeking a divorce is due to Pete's erratic and sometimes uncontrollable behavior.
Along with the custody of the couple's son, Simpson is also filing for spousal support and child support. She also plans on dropping the Wentz from her name.
