The New Stuff
ASHLAND, Ohio ~(Fox8News / AOLNews) ~ In a twisted version of 'The Fast and the Furious', local police have charged an Amish man for driving left of center after he clipped a motorist's vehicle while racing his horse & buggy against another horse-drawn rig.
Law enforcement officials said that Jacob Raberwas the man holding the reins when his horse carriage struck a vehicle on Route 758 on March 13th. Raber was reportedly racing with another horse & buggy to a nearby church when he attempted to pass for the lead. But when the one-horsepower vehicle tried to make the pass, it clipped an oncoming car after crossing the center line. Raber suffered some cuts and scratches from the incident; his three passengers, the motorist and the horse were all unharmed.
This isn't the first time that a carriage driver has been busted by police for reckless driving; last year in Leon, New York, cops charged a 17-year-old Amish youth with several charges including possession of alcohol and overdriving an animal, after he allegedly took officers on a low-speed chase in his horse & buggy.
