Actor Morgan Freeman Calls Tea Party `Racist’ [Video]

LOS ANGELES, California –“Political Race”—During an interview on CNN’s Piers Morgan Friday, actor Morgan Freeman made it clear how he felt about the Tea Party, asserting that the political group is “a racist thing.”

The “Invictus” star said the Tea Party’s “policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama once serves one term. What underlines that?”

“Screw the country. We’re going to do whatever we do to get this black man outta here.”

Freeman asserts that the Tea Party’s policy is “a racist thing.”

The Oscar-winning actor said the rise of the Tea Party was a disturbing development. “It just shows the weak dark underside of America,” he said. “We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. ‘Ah look at what we are–this is America.’ Then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced–like stirring up muddy water.”

When asked if he was disappointed that Obama hasn’t taken a tougher stance against the conservatives, Freeman said, "Kind of, but I understood that he was trying to hold onto his own promise that he would be president of all the people."

Freeman’s politically charged comments were met with immediate feedback from web users who turned to social media outlets to respond.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Chuck” actor Adam Baldwin, who is a Republican, tweeted, “Dear Morgan Freeman: Respectfully, U're wrong. It's the content of Obama's character & policies, not the color of his skin, that's at issue.

Someone using the Twitter handle God tweeted Morgan Freeman saith the Tea Party is racist. I know not if that is true. All I know is when Morgan Freeman saith anything, it SOUNDS true.
